Senior Editor

Perplexity is seeking a Senior Editor to lead the quality and velocity of everything published. The role involves setting the editorial bar for excellence, making every writer around you measurably better, and building a world-class editorial function from the ground up.

Responsibilities:

• Own editorial quality end to end.
• Reject mediocrity.
• Demand clarity and ensure accuracy.
• Be Perplexity, evolve and enforce the company's voice.
• Plan and manage the editorial calendar.
• Edit at every level, from high-level editorial vision to developmental editing to line-level copy editing.
• Mentor, elevate, and attract excellent writers.
• Build the editorial system, evolve and own style guides and workflows.
• Work productively across the company.

Qualifications:

• 7+ years in editing, writing, or editorial leadership.
• High flexibility of tone and mind.
• High competence throughout the editorial stack.
• Demonstrated track record of mentoring writers and improving team output.
• Exceptional ability to learn.
• Refined judgment on structure, argument, and voice.
• Proven eye for narrative in complex material.
• Deep familiarity with grammar, style, and storytelling rules.
• Comfort using AI tools.
• Passion for the truth well-told.

Compensation:

• $210K – $290K
