What the team is looking for.
We are seeking a Compensation Operations Manager to support and execute the operational infrastructure behind OpenAI's global variable compensation programs across Sales, Technical Success, Partnerships, and other GTM teams.
This role is focused on driving scalable commission policies and operational excellence. You'll lead the development of best-in-class commission processes, oversee policy implementation, establish robust audit practices, and support the field through issue triage and resolution. In close partnership with Revenue Operations, Finance, Total Rewards, HRIS, and GTM Systems, you'll ensure our compensation programs are accurate, compliant, scalable, and deliver a seamless experience for the field.
Responsibilities:
- Administer compensation plans, quotas, credits, adjustments, exceptions, and payout processes.
- Design and maintain scalable processes that ensure accurate and efficient compensation administration.
- Implement and maintain compensation policies, ensuring that all program rules are consistently applied across GTM teams.
- Manage field support triaging for compensation-related inquiries, streamlining communication between GTM personnel and back-office teams.
- Execute recurring compensation payout cycles, reconciliations, and operational close processes.
- Execute compensation letter generation, distribution, tracking, and record management.
- Partner with Legal, HR, and Finance to support governance, approvals, compliance, and audit requirements.
- Develop reporting, dashboards, and quality assurance processes to improve visibility and accuracy.
Field Support & Enablement:
- Serve as a key point of contact for compensation-related field questions and inquiries.
- Build and maintain support resources, FAQs, documentation, and intake processes.
- Partner with Enablement and Sales Leadership to improve understanding, adoption, and trust in compensation programs.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience in compensation operations, sales operations, revenue operations, finance operations, or related operational roles.
- Deep experience administering variable compensation programs at scale.
- Strong experience with compensation systems and operational tooling.
- Experience executing payout cycles, quota workflows, plan administration, and compensation governance.
- Demonstrated ability to build and improve scalable operational processes in high-growth environments.
- Strong cross-functional stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Strong analytical, systems, and problem-solving capabilities.
- A hands-on approach with a high level of accuracy, ownership, and attention to detail.
- Comfort balancing strategic context with day-to-day operational execution.
