What the team is looking for.
Anthropic's API is the foundation that customers, developers, and their own products build on, and it is scaling fast. They're hiring a Technical Program Manager to drive the scaling and core efficiency programs for the API stack, working at the intersection of the API and the infrastructure it runs on (compute, databases, networking, and inference).
The Technical Program Manager will be responsible for:
- Driving scaling and core efficiency programs for the API stack from architectural direction through sequenced, deliverable execution
- Running multiple large programs simultaneously across infrastructure, networking, and the API layer
- Acting as the connective tissue between API, infrastructure, database, networking, and inference teams, owning cross-org dependencies end to end
- Establishing decision-making clarity: who owns what, where trade-offs get made, and how isolated streams roll up into one program view
- Surfacing risks, progress, and trade-offs to engineering leadership with the right altitude and cadence
The ideal candidate will have:
- 7+ years of technical program management experience, with a track record of successfully delivering complex, cross-functional programs
- Experience with API platforms, distributed systems, and core infrastructure programs and can engage meaningfully with the engineers who design and operate them
- Experience driving scaling, performance, or efficiency programs for high-volume production systems, including the tradeoffs across performance, reliability, and cost
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence without authority
The annual compensation range for this role is $365,000-$435,000 USD.
Anthropic offers competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues.
