Fiber Technician

As a Fiber Technician at xAI's Memphis data centre, you'll work onsite with passionate teams to install and maintain critical network infrastructure, ensuring seamless connectivity. You'll collaborate closely, refine your expertise, and keep our systems running smoothly to support xAI's mission of accelerating human scientific discovery through AI.

Responsibilities: Under the guidance of the Foreman Supervisor, Project Manager, and Superintendent, you'll manage all phases of datacentre installation projects. You'll ensure a safe and productive work environment, develop sensor indicators, and conduct timely inspections to prevent faulty fibre optic systems from destabilising their performance. You'll troubleshoot, resolve, repair, and install fibre optics systems, examine and replace faulty and/or old fibre optic cables, organise scheduled maintenance routines, take care of fibre splicing, and rectify fibre optic problem areas. You'll also keep track of the signal strength of different devices and formulate and maintain system records and system designs.

Basic Qualifications: 1+ years of direct data centre experience installing and routing optical fibre in large-scale Tier 3 or 4 facilities as a commercial fibre optic technician. High school diploma or equivalency certificate.

Preferred Skills and Experience: Certification in fibre optics and/or cable installation. Extensive experience in fibre splicing. Technical knowledge of communication networks. Knowledgeable of computers and associated electronic systems. Knowledgeable of different fibre types. Experience installing, certifying, and troubleshooting fibre in hyperscale data centre environments. Experience installing structured cabling.
