Job Overview
As a member of the facility operations team at xAI, you will design, build, and activate technically advanced facilities and data centers. As an electrical engineer, you will design and build power systems for new infrastructure projects, operating autonomously to solve complex problems and manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and specify electrical systems, including power distribution, switchgear, lighting, ground support controls, UPS units, generators, transfer switches, power monitoring, data/phone distribution, grounding systems, fire alarm systems, and lightning protection systems.
- Provide electrical engineering support to troubleshoot existing equipment and controllers.
- Conduct load flow analysis, evaluate electrical equipment, and ensure proper grounding of building and facility equipment.
- Coordinate electrical installations and maintenance with local utilities personnel.
- Ensure designs and installations comply with applicable codes and regulations, including NFPA 70E, NFPA 70 NEC, and IBC.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
- 3+ years of professional experience in electrical projects, power distribution systems, switchgear, UPS, and generators.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- 5+ years of professional experience in a similar role.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license.
- Experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs), industrial pumps, MODBUS communication, medium voltage distribution, control panel design, power coordination, and arc flash.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
