Meta is seeking a Thermal Engineer Intern to join their Hardware Engineering team. The intern will work closely with design engineers to test and validate server hardware and thermal technologies.
What you'll do
The Thermal Engineer Intern will be responsible for measuring thermal performance of servers, developing and publishing test reports, analyzing and simulating server cooling schemes and thermal technologies, executing tests according to plan, providing input on fan control algorithm optimizations, engaging with the hardware team to ensure proper component design, diagnosing and root cause component failures, and performing CFD analysis to solve thermal challenges in the server/storage/network system.
What you need
- Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Knowledge of fluid dynamic and heat transfer (conduction/convection/radiation)
- Familiar with lab equipment, data acquisition systems, air flow chambers, and/or environmental chamber
- Coding experience in Python, Matlab, and/or C/C++
- Experience in 3D CAD or CFD software (Ex: Solidworks, Creo, Flotherm, Icepack, etc)
- Troubleshooting and analytical skills
