About this role
As our Revenue Recognition Specialist, you will be instrumental in revenue generation, optimization, and scaling our business by owning Mistral AI's transition from French GAAP to IFRS. Reporting to the IFRS Lead, you will structure our growth, ensuring financial integrity while turning revenue recognition into a strategic advantage for our high-stakes deals and global expansion.
Responsibilities
• Transaction Review: Proactively assess ongoing sales negotiations to determine the appropriate accounting treatment in line with IFRS 15 and Mistral AI's transition from French GAAP, ensuring alignment with company policies.
• Quarterly Compliance: Review and document the accounting treatment of closed transactions at each quarter-end, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Issue Identification: Identify and escalate revenue recognition issues for in-progress deals within the quarter, reporting findings promptly to internal stakeholders.
• Deal Structuring: Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Sales, Legal) during negotiations, providing guidance to achieve optimal revenue outcomes while adhering to IFRS 15.
• Adjustment Requests: Prepare and submit necessary accounting adjustment requests for revenue recognition, coordinating with the Accounting team.
• Reporting & Analysis: Compile required reporting and analysis files for the Accounting team.
• Process Improvement: Contribute to projects aimed at enhancing and automating existing control and analysis processes in relation to Revenue Recognition.
Who you are
• Technical Expert (6+ years of experience): You have a solid background in revenue recognition (IFRS 15), with experience in financial reporting, audit, or technical accounting—ideally in tech, SaaS, or high-growth environments. You've worked on complex sales contracts (subscriptions, multi-element arrangements) and collaborated with Sales, Legal, and Finance teams to ensure compliance and accuracy.
• Problem Solver: Analytical and detail-oriented, you thrive in fast-paced environments, turning intricate revenue scenarios into clear, actionable processes. Your approach is pragmatic, hands-on, and solution-driven.
• Business Partner: A strong communicator who simplifies technical jargon for non-finance stakeholders. You build trust by balancing rigor with adaptability, ensuring alignment across teams.
• Tech-Savvy: Comfortable with ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, etc.) and tools like RevPro or Zuora. You understand how to translate contract terms into revenue recognition policies and leverage technology to streamline workflows.
• Proactive & Collaborative: You take ownership of processes, anticipate risks, and drive continuous improvement. Your mindset is positive, adaptable, and focused on delivering results—no challenge is too complex or too small.
