We are seeking a Research Engineer to join our Science Team, focusing on the Quantum Computing Initiative. As a Research Engineer, you will contribute to the development of fault-tolerant quantum computing, leveraging cutting-edge machine learning to push the boundaries of what's possible in quantum simulation and algorithm development.
The role involves delivering on complex research and engineering milestones, assuming end-to-end ownership of implementing and scaling ML solutions at the intersection of quantum computing and machine learning. You will complement the algorithms development pillar by translating classical and quantum algorithms into robust code, balancing implementation time with efficiency, design simplicity, and sustainability.
Key responsibilities include facilitating communication between research and engineering by championing code readability, promoting engineering best practices, and writing effective design documents. You will work closely with domain experts in computer science, mathematics, computational chemistry, physics, and machine learning.
To succeed in this role, you will require very strong machine learning, engineering, and software development skills, with a proven ability to solve complex technical problems. A strong foundational background in algorithms and computer science is essential, as well as a scientific background, such as computer science, physics, mathematics, chemistry, or engineering.
Additional desirable skills include deep practical experience and strength in agentic AI and modern machine learning paradigms, prior exposure to or knowledge of quantum computing concepts, and a PhD in a relevant scientific or computational field, or a track record of published papers.
