Job Title: Research Engineer
We're seeking a talented Research Engineer to join our geospatial AI team behind AlphaEarth. As a Research Engineer, you will develop the next frontier of models for geospatial understanding, implementing production-ready systems and experimenting/hypothesis testing to evaluate improvements and new opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Develop novel models for geospatial understanding
- Implement production-ready systems
- Experiment/hypothesis testing to evaluate improvements and new opportunities
- Collaborate with core and extended team members across Mountain View, New York, and London
Requirements:
- BSc, MSc or PhD/DPhil degree in computer science, mathematics, applied stats, machine learning or 3+ years similar experience working in industry
- Experience with large-scale data pipeline and processing
- Proven knowledge and experience of Python or C++
- Knowledge of machine learning and statistics
- Knowledge of algorithm design
- Background in ecology, earth science, biogeochemistry, earth observation, or related fields is highly desirable
- Proven experience with ML frameworks (e.g. JAX)
- Proven experience working on deployed projects from proof-of-concept through to implementation
- Thrives in ambiguity and a fast-paced, startup-like culture
- Great communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
