Perplexity AI is looking for an experienced Android Engineer to join their small team. The ideal candidate should have strong programming skills, an interest in AI and large language models, and a passion for delivering a great UX backed by a quality UI.
What you'll do
- Develop a performant native Android app that millions of users around the world enjoy using.
- Ensure a high craft and quality bar, both in the user experience and the developer experience.
- Work closely with design teams to design fast and intuitive UI.
- Collaborate with data science and machine learning teams to instrument, analyze, and improve the end-to-end experience.
- Work with infrastructure and QA teams on deployment processes, including testing, release, and monitoring.
What you need
- 4+ years industry experience
- Expertise in Jetpack Compose, Kotlin Coroutines and Flow
- Strong Android fundamentals and a proven track record of working with a modern Android stack built in Kotlin
- Understands how to manage performance and speed
- (Preferred) Deep experience with Gradle, JNI, Kotlinization of codebases and tooling in large codebases
- (Preferred) Experience with Chromium development for Android
- Comfortable working with a small, fast-moving team, must be willing to dive in and take ownership
- A passion for shipping
